Trustee Investments
Trusts can be flexible and advantageous vehicles to arrange affairs for a variety of purposes such as Preserving Family Wealth, Protecting Assets, Estate Planning Tax Planning or to maintain entitlement to certain benefits.
Assets within a trust are legally owned by the trust itself and subject to the terms of the Trust. Trustees are appointed to oversee the management and distribution of those assets and are subject to a fundamental duty to act in the best interests of all beneficiaries and potential beneficiaries, to exercise reasonable skill and care, and to review trust investments on a regular basis.
Historically, professional trustees have delegated their investment decisions to stockbrokers. The way that trusts are taxed has dramatically changed over recent years and we believe that trustees need to consider the entire range of investment vehicles available for Trust investment in order to properly discharge their duties.
