I also enjoy travelling and keeping fit, although the latter is only really to make up for my love of chocolate!

Helen Scurry

Finance Manager
I am married to Paul and have 2 children, Oliver 21 and Matthew 17. I am the Finance Manager; so I look after all the money coming in and going out and buy the toilet rolls. I joined Pen-Life over 14 years ago and still love working here, the company has changed so much over the years, for the better. Every day is different as we see new and interesting challenges that make us one of the leading Chartered IFA’s in the North. Despite my eldest son being away at University, I still spend most of my spare time ferrying between cricket and football. My youngest son’s dream is to be a professional cricketer, and then he can look after me in my later years; I have my fingers crossed for this to come true!

I have worked at PenLife since 2003 and my role is Senior Administrator. I’m currently the longest-serving PenLifer, so they are definitely doing something right! In my time outside of work, I pick up lego, dance with my daughter in the living room, pretend I’m interested in pokemon, go for walks, frequent playgrounds, drink coffee and eat chocolate.

I live in York and I have been working for PenLife for as an administrator since January 2013. I came to PenLife straight from leaving sixth –form at Queen Ethelburga’s Collegiate. I made the decision to go to boarding school due to moving around a lot, with my Dad being in the Armed Forces. Outside of work I enjoy playing rugby. I play for York City Knights and this year made my debut for the first team.

Louis Maddison

Dedicated Support
After an Eureka moment in 2014 of deciding I wanted to work in Finance I began an apprenticeship with PenLife in Financial Administration. I have since completed this apprenticeship and I am now working towards Financial Adviser Status. The fluffy stuff – My favourite time of the year has to be summer as this means festival season! Not appealing to most, but getting muddy and listening to live music is my heaven. I am also a keen traveller and took 2 months (thanks to my amazing bosses) out of work to see a large part of South East Asia back in 2016.

Leon Kemplay

Dedicated Support
After completing my A Levels in Grimsby and moving to York (best choice I’ve ever made by the way), I joined PenLife in September 2015 and since completed an advanced apprenticeship. I’m continuing to get through my exams to hopefully be a Financial Planner at PenLife. I also manage the companies investment proposition and always keen to learn more about the investment world. I enjoy travelling to hot places and lounging around in the sun, drinking cocktails with my partner and being a somewhat proud Grimsby Town Football Club fan.

Eleanor Wood image

Eleanor Wood

Marketing Administrator
Informally known as Nora or Noz to those in the office (cos Nora isn’t short enough?), I started working at PenLife in October 2015 as a Marketing Apprentice. I’ve since then become the ‘Inhouse creative’ meaning I turn boring black and white financey stuff into stuff that’s easy on the eye as well as sorting the technical back end system campaigns. Outside of work you can find me drinking cocktails with Remy, at a gig, walking my ugly dog or on the ground as I am extremely clumsy.

Adam Wilson

Trainee Administrator
I’m 21 years old and I recently finished university with no real inkling of what I was going to do. Once found, I snapped up the opportunity to work at Penlife. It’s a great atmosphere here, and everyone is extremely friendly and helpful. There is a lot of content to learn in the financial sector, and I believe Penlife will facilitate that learning.

Carolyn Myers

I live in Bishopthorpe with my husband Darren and our two sporting fanatics Will, 13 and George, 9. Having worked in marketing for many years working on brands such as McCain Foods, Sunderland AFC and ASDA, I took a career break to bring up my two boys. In November 2017, I was delighted to join the PenLife team and am relishing the challenge of learning new skills in a new industry. My passions are my boys, running, working out and the odd G&T now and again! I am also a member of the fundraising team for our village football team and am busy helping to raise funds for a new community clubhouse and pitches. I hope to welcome you soon to PenLife and look forward to making you the perfect tea or coffee!
Haydn Wishart image

Haydn Wishart

I joined PenLife in September 2016 as a Trainee Administrator, having somewhat stumbled across the opportunity because I’d never really given the idea of working in Financial Services a thought. Since starting however, I have not looked back as I really enjoy doing the job that I do, which involves requesting information on our clients pensions and investments, as well as just generally making sure that the Advisers have what they need in order for them to do their job most effectively. Away from the office, I am a keen football fan, and in particular I love the travel aspect that comes with following both York City and England on a regular basis.

Olivia Reynolds

Trainee Administrator
I’m 18 and I have been interested in business all my life so earlier this year I started looking for an apprenticeship, one thing led to another and now I am working at PenLife and I am loving it! I hope to achieve further qualifications while I am working at PenLife through doing exams alongside my work. Outside of work, I am a very keen traveller and hope to travel more as soon as I can.

Drew Johns

I’m 23 and I have lived in York all my life. After 6 years of hairdressing I felt like it was time for a career change (scary) what better place to begin than PenLife. After my first month at the company I knew that this was the right choice I’m excited to see what else is in store. In my spare time I love spending time with friends and enjoying a few cocktails.

I have always enjoyed business and I’m keen to learn new things, this is why I believed an apprenticeship would be right for me. Outside of work I enjoy socialising with my friends and family. One day in the future I would love to have the ability to travel around the world.

Evie Lacey

Marketing Apprentice
I’m 19 and I am one of the newest additions to the PenLife team! After studying aspects of marketing on a creative media course at college, I decided that a career in marketing is something I wanted to pursue. Outside of work, I enjoy camping trips, going to music events with friends or going out for food (although I’m also happy to sit in with a takeaway!).
