Adam Dent
Chartered Financial Planner
"I’ve had many proud moments as a Financial Planner, but the best are when you can help your client achieve their objectives, especially around retirement. The majority of people want to retire on their terms, and they spend a substantial part of their lives working. So being able to tell a client they can retire is an amazing feeling!"
Work
Adam joined PenLife in 2012 as an apprentice. After dedicating several years of hard work and study, he qualified as a Chartered Financial Planner in 2022 and became a Fellow of the Personal Finance Society in 2023.
Adam’s expertise is listening to people’s aspirations and then guiding them every step of the way to the right financial path. He finds the most enjoyable aspect of his role is being a part of making a positive difference in people’s lives. That may involve creating a plan so they can retire earlier than expected, providing intuitive plans to increase tax efficiency, or mitigating Inheritance Tax.
With specialisms in retirement planning, including pensions, investments, and tax planning, Adam helps people make sense of their finances without the confusing jargon. Adam also provides support to the younger members of the PenLife team, helping them with their studies and coaching them through their financial services journey.
Rest and play
Adam is very sports driven. He’s a keen rugby player, having experienced the game at a professional level, and is now taking it slightly steadier by playing at amateur level with Heworth ARLFC.
Adam has recently taken up golf, but as all keen golfers will know, it’s a lot harder than it looks. At the moment, he ends up digging his ball out of the bushes most of the time!
