Deb Jacobs

Director, Chartered Financial Planner, and Planner Team Leader

"The thing I love most about my job - that’s easy: the people. I enjoy working with a great team at PenLife as well as meeting new clients. But best of all is having clients who’ve been with me for years; it’s a privilege to go through the highs and lows of life with them."

Reviews and Ratings for Financial adviser Deb Jacobs, York

Work

Deb has been a Financial Planner since 1998. That longevity means she’s experienced the highs and lows of investing and, along the way, has worked with a huge variety of clients, all with very individual requirements.

Deb’s experience means she can help with every aspect of financial planning, including Defined Benefit pension transfers. But her biggest skill is her ability to simplify complex scenarios, making them easy to understand for busy people who can easily feel overwhelmed by their finances.

Deb enjoys working with people who are open to a transparent, honest, ongoing working relationship, which means she can really get to know the people she’s supporting. Luckily for her, these are the types of people she tends to attract as clients.

Rest and play

Deb is very much a homebird, but her friends would say she’s the organiser in their lives. She usually has various weekends away planned throughout the year.

Deb loves a restaurant tasting menu. That’s mainly because she often gets bored reading an actual menu, but also because this kind of meal means she can try things she wouldn’t normally order.

If Deb isn’t on holiday or eating out, her weekends usually involve a long dog walk, usually to a beach or forest.

Deb in the spotlight

On an ideal weekend, you can find me:

With friends and family – probably eating, but if it’s at a spa or on a beach as well, then I’m really on to a winner.

My favourite holiday destination is:

Vietnam – I recently visited after wanting to go for 20 years and it didn’t disappoint.

The first album I bought was:

I feel like it might have been Five Star or Whitney Houston or maybe Wham… enough said!

When the dessert menu arrives, I’m looking for:

Sticky toffee pudding, no cream or ice cream and extra sauce!

The three qualities that draw me to new people are:

A kind face, an evil sense of humour, and someone who has the ability to make me feel comfortable.

My pet peeve is:

Going around the houses… let’s just get to the point!

The best gift I’ve ever received is:

Anything where some thought has gone into it. It doesn’t have to be something big or expensive, just thoughtful.

The three people at my dream dinner party would be:

George Michael, George Clooney (when he was Doug in ER), and my mum.

The three small things that make my day better are:

My dogs, Alfie and Joshua, sugar (mainly in chocolate form!), and sunshine.
