John Walker

Adviser Support

"The three things I love most about my job are it gives me some structure and a different element to my retirement, being able to share my knowledge and experience with our other Financial Planners and continuing to be part of the dynamic PenLife team."

Work

After a 20-year career in sales and computing, John began working in financial services in 2002. He initially worked for the financial services arm of a firm of accountants based in Halifax.

John joined PenLife in 2011 and qualified as a Chartered Financial Planner in 2012. He retired from advising clients at the end of March 2024 but continues to work for PenLife for one day per week.

This allows our Financial Planners to benefit from his extensive experience helping clients grow and protect their wealth and his technical knowledge about pensions, investments and Inheritance Tax planning

Rest and play

John lives between York and Malton with his partner, Julie. The couple have been in the same house for nearly 33 years!

In his spare time, John likes reading, gardening, walking, and music. He also plays U-Bass in a ukulele band, The Grand Old Uke of York.
